ANNOUNCEMENTS & PROGRAMME ON 29/02/24

Thursday, 29 February 2024

1). President - Vinod Parekh announced : i) We have announced several times that members should not put their belongings on another chair, thus occupying extra chairs.  This is bringing problems for chairs on the Ladies side. From next Thursday, we will be very strict and check on chairs used for keeping belongings of members and if we find the same, we will have no alternative but to remove the same so that others can use the chairs. We request your co-operation in this matter.

ii) We have noticed that though we always make several announcements about our programmes and also send these on our Emails with full information and details, members do not open and read the same.  Then they keep on ringing us about the programmes of the day or look surprised to see what is happening at the Main Desk etc.  We have been spending so much time and taking the trouble to inform members by Emails. We request all to open and read emails sent by us which you think are important.

iii) There is something special for lunch today. Though "Maha Shivratri" is still two weeks away and our Programmes have already been booked, we will celebrate it today with special 'Farari' lunch. Also we are celebrating the extra day today in this year's month of February which has 29 days, which only comes every four years.  Please enjoy.

6 ). Dr Vinodbhai Kapashi gave details of the afternoon programme - a unique programme of "Our Social Dilemma" when sometimes there comes a time in our lives when we find ourselves in situations where decision making is either difficult or is painful. We will present two real-life events/stories and discuss the matter. Few selected members will be chosen to provide their opinions. Members of the audience will also get a chance to present their views. This will be an interesting event with differing opinions. Please join.

As usual the afternoon programme started at 2.00 pm with Dr. Vinodbhai Kapashi choosing the panel of four members : Dhirubhai Galani, Sangitaben Mandalia,  Jayshuklal Mehta and  Mitaben C Shah. The Hall was packed by members to listen to the interesting Topic which touched everyone's lives in some way or other. There was pin drop silence.

Dr. Vinodbhai Kapashi then said that sometimes in our lives we all face a situation when decision has to be made which is quite difficult or painful.  He then gave two examples in real lives that happened to two families.

In the first example, he stated that a family of mother and her daughter came from East Africa to settle in UK.  The mother was very religious but she never taught her daughter on their religion and she remained ignorant when she reached maturity because of lack of exposure to the religion.  She then met a friend in  her University who was of a different caste and fell in love with him and married him and one day the mother was told by the daughter that she was moving with the different cast boy to his country.  It was then that she realised the mistake she made in not teaching her their own religion which was vastly different. She regretted all her life.

In the second example, he told a real life story of a mother and her son whom she gave all her life to educate and support him and made him a professional highly educated adult. She then married him to a girl from India.  She was a very rich man's daughter, spoiled and a bit arrogant.  Slowly she managed to get the boy in her favour and one day he convinced his mother to transfer all assets to him. He usurped all property and finance of his mother thus she lost everything and was forced out penniless.

After each example the panel members gave their opinion on the dilemma. Some members also gave their opinions.  It was interesting to hear such wide difference of opinions from Religion to other factors.   Members complemented NVK for organising such informative programme.  Many thanks to Dr. Vinodbhai Kapashi for once more organising a highly educational and inspiring programme.
