1). President Vinod Parekh announced : i) We have announced about the parking in the Centre Lane in Sattavis Patidar Centre two weeks ago.  Yet again someone has parked in the centre lane when there were several parking spaces in the other Parking Bays.  This is our final request to all.  Kindly park your cars in the parking Bays only and after both sides are full, park in the centre so that it does not cause inconvenience to others.
ii). Next Thursday we have full day Garba in the other bigger Hall from 11.00 am to 3.30 pm with live Band who are going to sing garba geets etc.  There is no Yoga.  Please come in smart dresses and any donations towards 'prasaad' or Music is most welcome.  You can bring 'prasaad' from home. Guests are welcome for £12.50 and members grand children can come - ages 5 to 12 charge £5 and over 12years - £12.50.  We must be informed in advance about the guests or children for catering purposes.
iii) You must all have read the email message for our Diwali Dhamaka programme on 9th November. This year we have choosen Blue Room Banquet Hall in Headstone Lane as our venue after holding it for two years here at Sattavis Patidar Centre. We wanted everyone including all volunteers to enjoy the programme.  All details are given there.  Members subsidised charge is £12.50 and Guests £25. There will be live music.  You have to get your tickets from the Front Desk.  As the Hall is downstairs there will be no problem for Disabled.  There is ample parking. Seating will be 10 persons on Round Tables.  You can book your group of 10 people on the Form and give it to our Secretary - Purnimaben Mehta. You have to choose your leader and give the person's mobile number.  Draw will be made for Table number by lucky dip. We are pleased that already 103 people have already booked their tickets today.    


2). Today's Warm up Yoga was conducted by Dineshbhai T Shah and the main Yoga by  Manishaben who conducted some very good Yogic stretch exercises with the Yoga Belt, which toned up many body joints and muscles.  Many thanks to both from NVK.

3). DONATIONS : Boxes of Biscuits for Tea Time from Krishnaben and Kiritbhai Mehta.  Many thanks from NVK.

4). After lunch today our Cultural Co-Ordinator -  Dr Vinodbhai Kapashi has arranged an interactive programme on our everyday lives and what happens when a spouse unfortunately passes away - is the other spouse fully in knowledge of their banking and financial matters etc.
As usual at Tea Time, NVK will provide Tea/Coffee and the sponsored Biscuits.
(Today's Lunch Menu included : Barfi, Methi Gota & Crispy Bhajia, Puri, Kichdi, Kadhi, Bateta nu saakh etc )
The afternoon programme started at 2.10 pm when Dr. Vinodbhai Kapashi opened the programme and gave detailed of problems faced in our everyday lives when one spouse passes away and discussed whether the other spouse is fully prepared and ready to face their banking and financial problems  etc.  He then gave examples of several cases in which the remaining spouse had to face several problems.  He also gave many crucial points that arise with the relevant authorities. 

The following also joined in the discussion by narrating their own experiences and what everyone should know how to proceed with monetary, banking, financial matters as well as property matters - held jointly or in India etc .                 

Purnimaben Mehta spoke about the befriending services offered by Vanik Council UK. This service is available to our community who find themselves lonely and would benefit from a couple of hours a week of company from Vanik Council befriending volunteers. Vanik Council volunteers are trained befrienders and ready to help out.

Purnimaben explained that the volunteers can come to you and help you with reading, singing, play a game and puzzles, knitting. If you or your family can benefit from such a service please contact Purnimaben Mehta on 07817429113.

It was a very informative and important programme and the Hall was full of members listening to every word silently. Dr. Vinodbhai Kapashi even gave an example of a male spouse who did not know how to make Tea on his own. 

5). Next Thurs – 19th Oct, - during the Navratri Festival we will have a full day of Raas and Garba from 11.00am to 3.00 pm.  We have booked a live band of Viru Vakani group who are going to sing some of the most tuneful garbas. 

6). Diwali Dhamaka is now very near.  We will have a Raffle during the function drawn from your ticket numbers with some fantastic prizes. We have already got pledges for some very good prizes.  However if any member wishes to sponsor more good prizes, please contact us.

7). Navnat Vanik Association of UK is celebrating their Golden Jubilee in November and are issuing a Souvenir on the occasion. All members have been sent details of 'Khusi Bhet'

8). Purnimaben Mehta gave full details of our new Membership Cards and the new system of giving members the Renewal Form duly completed in all details by us.  Members will have to bring their current Membership cards and have their photos taken by either Chimanbhai Sheth or Karsanbhai Bhudia. When they bring their membership fees, they will have to simply sign the pre filled form after checking all details.  She also gave full reasons why we needed the details from members as printed on the forms and stressed that it was not compulsory if members did not want to give certain details.  However if a problem arises because of certain information not being available, NVK will not be responsible for any consequences that may arise.

She also informed members on the seating arrangements at the Diwali Dhamaka programme at Blue Room Banquet.  The names of 10 persons must be given with their leader's name and Mobile number.  She will not accept the forms with incomplete or lesser names. The leaders will pick the Table number from the lucky draw.
