NAVJIVAN VADIL KENDRA – ANNOUNCEMENTS ON THURS –17th OCT ‘19

1). Today’s Warm-up Yoga was conducted by Jayeshbhai Shah.  Many thanks from Kendra.

2). DONATIONS : * £25 from Batukbhai Sanghrajka who celebrated his 85th birthday.
* £101 from Nootanben Laxman on her 70th birthday.  Kendra’s Best Wishes and we pray that both enjoy many more birthdays to come.
*£75 from Adarsh Gujral on the occasion of Diwali, wishing all members a very happy Diwali.

3). After lunch today, we will have a very informative programme on various aspects of scams, frauds, elderly abuse etc and as usual at Tea Time, Kendra will provide tea and biscuits.

First Police Officers : PC Hobday from Northwick Park Ward, PC Cox and PCSO Popa from Preston Ward spoke on crimes and burglaries, specially aggravated robberies and the precautions to be taken.  Members asked many questions and these were replied in detail.

Then, Mark Mullally, Community Banker from Netwest presented his detailed talk with slides.  He spoke on telephone scams and call blocker, text messages fraud, postal scams, etc.  He explained how the predatory criminals operate and precautions to take.  He also said how the younger generation is targeted by scammers.  He then spoke to individual members on their queries.

Both the Police and Bank Reps gave very interesting information and members said they were very happy and requested that we should arrange another detailed presentation from them.

V.President – Vinodbhai Kapashi then informed members of the ‘Diwali Mithai’ and ‘Aarti Thalli’ competition to be held on 31/10 and gave full details of the competitions and requested members to take part.

4).  We hope you all are eagerly waiting for Our Grand Diwali Dhamaka programme  next Tuesday.  Purnimaben Mehta has finalised picking up of Table numbers by Table Leaders.  We have received several good prizes for our Raffle.  Please ensure to share cars due to limited parking available in the area.

5).  Please note next Thurs – 24th Oct we cannot meet as all Halls are booked, hence we will only meet for the grand Diwali programme and then on 31st Oct, when  our programme of “Diwali Mithai” and “Aarti Thali” competitions will be held.  Rules for the competition has been emailed to members. If you want to take part, please give your names to Kusumben Punater.

6). Please start renewing your membership for 2020.  The deadline is 15th Dec.

7).  Remember that the clocks go back one hour on  Sun - 27/10 at 2.00am, so enjoy and extra hour in bed.

8). Our heartfelt thanks to Binaben Shah for giving our 117 members a chance to see the film “Bahhuballi – The Beginning” at Royal Albert Hall with Philharmonic orchestra this Saturday.  ALL EXTRA TICKETS HAVE BEEN ALLOCATED.  PLEASE DO NOT RING BINABEN.

9).  Mahavir Foundation has organised “Chopda Poojan” on Sun – 27/10 at Wembley High School from 3.30pm.  First Dinner and then Poojan.  Charge £10 including Poojan thali etc.

10). President – Vinod Parekh requested members to read emails and instructions from NVK before talking to others something that was not correct.  He specially referred to clear circulars sent on Thursday – 24/10 being closed and not today’s gathering.
He also spoke on Diwali Dhamaka programme : * Table numbers draw has been done.      * Dress Code : Ladies – Colourful Saris and Gents – Smart dress or Salwar Khamis     * Parking – take care and follow instructions from the T/Marshalls   * Gates will open at 10.15am     * Starters will be served on Tables and Main dish will be buffet and when announcement is made, members will go to the Buffet Tables – likewise Jain food will be buffet service.
