NAVJIVAN VADIL KENDRA - ANNOUNCEMENTS ON THURS – 9th NOV 2017
1). Today’s Yoga was conducted by Dineshbhai T Shah and Jayeshbhai Shah. Many thanks to both from Kendra.
2) Today is the birthday of Manishaben and we all wish her a very Happy Birthday and pray that she enjoys many more to come. Everybody joined in singing the Happy Birthday song for her.
3). DONATIONS : £51 from Ushaben Sheth on the occasion of the 75th birthday for her husband : Chimanbhai Sheth on 8/11. Kendra’s Heartiest congratulations and we pray that he enjoys many more birthdays to come. Everybody joined in singing the Happy Birthday song for him.
4). After lunch today, we will have Whist Drive and as usual at Tea Time, Kendra will provide tea and biscuits.
5). Next Thurs – 16th Nov we will have “ Chai with Jasu”
6). Membership Renewal for 2018 is progressing fast and already over 220 members have renewed. Those who have as yet to renew, please do so at the Main Desk with your payment. The deadline is 15th Dec. Also those who have renewed should collect their Membership cards duly stamped for 2018.
7). Science Museum in London (Level 2) has launched the “Illuminating India” – a season of exhibitions on India from 4th Oct 17 to 31st Mar 18. It commemorates 70 years of Independence and is part of the India –UK Year of Culture. The exhibition is composed of two parts : 5000 years of Science and Innovation and Photography 1857 to 2017. Exhibition entry is free.
8). Last week we announced about the “Gujarati Yatra” exhibition in Museum of Croydon. Our member – Harshadbhai Sanghrajka was interviewed for this and his experience will be told on “individual stories” during the exhibition.
9). We are starting a new project to contribute for the welfare of our elderly community members in Care Homes, where we are planning to give two hours of our Volunteer’s time providing entertainment, light refreshment, and a small gift. To begin with we have agreed with 3 Care Homes and 1 Residential Home *Meera Nursing Home, *Birchwoood Care Home, *Sancroft Care Home. Woodcock Residential Home. Pragnaben Mandalia has planned this project and if you are interested, wish to help or need more details, please speak to her. We are hoping to make this as an ongoing project if we are successful. Kendra’s many thanks for yet another wonderful project from Pragnaben.
10). 22 people have gone on the Panama Cruise trip from today and we wish them happy holidays.
11). Three of our lady members : Asha Shah, Saroj Savadia and Meena Vora won 2nd Prize in a Bhukhar Tournament held at Ekta Centre. Our Heartiest Congratulations to all.
12). Our member – Manharbhai Mehta has been re-elected as the Chairman of Vanik Council. Our Heartiest Congratulations to him. Keep up the good work.
13). Our President Vinod Parekh gave more details on the project for Care homes and also requested for sponsors for token gifts to be given to the Care Home residents.
