ANNOUNCEMENTS ON THURSDAY 11TH SEPTEMBER 2014

1.It is with a deep sense of loss and sorrow that we have to inform the sad news of ‘Arihantsaran’ of our member - Vasantben Anupchand Parekh, Age 80 on 5th Sept.  We request all members to stand up to observe a minute’s silence to pray for her soul to rest in eternal peace.  We also send Kendra’s condolences to the late Vasantben’s  family. The funeral will be held at the Golders Green Crematorium tomorrow- Friday at 3.00 pm.

2. Today’s warm-up Yoga was conducted by Jayeshbhai Shah.  Many thanks to him from Kendra.  Immediately Manishaben finished the Yoga and prayers, she informed members that she was very happy that at last she had managed to buy her own house with help from our Hon. Secretary – Jayantbhai Doshi, after living for 10 years in rented premises.  On behalf of Kendra we congratulate and also wish her the Best of luck.  She has also started new Yoga classes on Tuesdays evening at 7.00 pm.  If anyone is interested, they should contact her

3. We have some very good news today, our President – Baburai T Shah has been honoured for his 15 years voluntary service in the Victim Support.  He was presented with a Certificate and also a Badge. Our heartiest congratulations and  Best Wishes and also pray that he continues to give such wonderful voluntary services.

4. After lunch today, we are having  two games of Bingo and as usual at Tea-time, Kendra will provide tea and biscuits.

5. Next Thursday, 18th Sept we will have some games.

6. Early this morning 42 members and others have left for the 12 day trip of Turkey and we wish them all the best and that they enjoy the trip. They will return on 22nd Sept.

7.  We hope everyone who saw the first film (which was subsidised for members) at the Cineworld and others who had joined in for the lunch at Ram Restaurant had a very enjoyable time.  We have received a few emails from members stating that they enjoyed the film and the sumptuous lunch at Rams. We hope to arrange more of such programmes in future with your co-operation.  We have arranged the next show on Tuesday – 7th October at the same time at Cineworld.  Full details will be given next week and tickets for the show will be on sale then.

8. On Thursday, 25th Sept, we have organised a whole day programme of ‘Blood Pressure and Health Awareness Day’.  The event has been organised jointly in collaboration with HPGEM and British Heart Foundation.  Please arrive by 10.00 as there is a lot of health information as well as taking Blood Pressure. There will be Yoga as usual in between the programmes.

9. Despite increase in Rent, Catering Charges and other Expenses, the Committee has decided not to increase the annual membership fees of £85 for 2015, and will remain same as this year.  Renewal forms are now ready and will be emailed to members soon.  Members are requested to complete the same fully ( specially with full names) and return the same to our Treasurer – Punambhai Patwa  BEFORE 15TH DECEMBER 2014 with the payment. We have done this early as we are aware that many members will go on holidays during Winter. Also note that cheques will be banked on receipt.  We are not going to take any new members and our membership will remain at 400..  However, should members not renew their membership, than only their places will be offered to those on the Waiting List.  The new members will have to pay a joining fee of £35 (Total £120)

10.  We had announced about the interesting day programme to visit the Natural History Museum on Wednesday 17th Sept, where a spectacular programme is on upto 28th Sept.  The charge for Seniors –over60 and in a group of over 10- is £3.40.  We have now received some names and other interested members should give their names to Ellaben Shah.

11.  As announced by Jasuben Sheth that in future we want to arrange a programme where members have a chance to come and express their views after arriving in this country – like what they achieved and learnt.  Interested members to give their names to Ellaben Shah.

12.  The next session of the ‘Walk and Talk ‘ programme will be on 2nd October at 9.45am and there will be no programme for next three Thursdays.

13.  Please note hence forth a charge of £2 will be imposed for requesting a Duplicate card (if you have lost the same).

14.  Navnat Bhagini Samaj has organised a “Geeto Bhari Saam” by Shama and group on Sat, 20th Sept at Navnat Centre, Hayes.  Tickets are available from Niluben Jashapara.

15. Everyone is requested to sign in the Register at the main Table including all guests.  Guests should ensure to obtain Guest Pass from Vinod Parekh.

15.  Vinod Parekh informed members that we need more volunteers for the Blood Pressure and Health programme on 25th Sept.

He also reminded members not to block the fire safety corridor behind the chairs near the walls.

Also now that the heater in the Hall is being put on because of  cold, all members must make sure that the main doors are closed every time they enter or depart.
