1). President - Vinod Parekh announced : * The Caterers for today's Lunch is a different one and not our usual - Meera Caterers, as they are busy for 2 weeks to cater for the "Katha". So please bear with us if it tastes differently. . We have tried to get the most reasonable catering after contacting 3 different caterers.
* Regarding "Chaas" glasses. We have seen so many glasses are being used to drink chaas with your lunch and the cost of the glasses has now gone up by nearly 50%. As NVK members we all have to join to economise so that unnecessary wastage is controlled. We will try and get a large glass so that there is more content and should your still require more, then it will only be refilled in your own glass and not in a new glass.
* Our Musical Programme on 31st August - we hope you have booked your tickets. This time we will have a different seating arrangement. When you enter the Hall, at the Gate, you have to surrender your ticket and you will be given a seat number. You will have to seat on that Table (Round table for 10). You will not be allowed to seat on any other Table. Your Guests will be given the seat on the same table as yours. There will be 4 tables reserved for the EC Committee, Volunteers and also
2 tables for the Disabled near the Gate.
2). Today's Warm-up Yoga was done by Dhirubhai Galani and the main Yoga was conducted by by Manishaben. She conducted many Yogic poses to tone up body joints - and specially legs and hands muscles and joints. Many thanks to both of them from NVK.
3). DONATIONS : i) £51 from Navnitbhai and Vasumatiben Vora on the occasion of Vasuben's birthday today and Navnitbhai's on 14th Aug.
ii) £50 from Shirishbhai Parikh on the occasion of his birthday today.
All three members were requested to stand up and Ramaben Doshi sang the Happy Birthday song - "Tum jeo hazarro saal..." when everyone joined in to wish the three members. Many thanks from NVK to all and we pray that they will enjoy many more birthdays to come.
4). After lunch from 2.00 pm to 3.30 pm we will celebrate India's Independence Day programme.
As usual at Tea Time, Kendra will provide Tea/Coffee and the sponsored Biscuits.
(Today's lunch menu included : "Bundi", "Dhokra", mix saakh, papad etc. Many members came to say that the lunch was quite tasty).
The afternoon Programme started at 2.00 pm when Dr Vinodbhai Kapashi gave a detailed history as to how the independence was obtained and how many heroes sacrificed their lives to get the same.
Then the March Past by many members wearing colourful dresses, two ladies in India's tiranga colours, many waving flags, others holding a large Flag to lead the march. Everyone was in joyous mood singing the independence songs with loud music and raising the flags shouting 'Jai Bharat mata ki'. The march started from the main gate, going round the Hall and stopping near the stage, where they started to sing with the music.
After the march members came to sing independence songs, des bhakti songs etc. This went on until 3.15 pm when the President - Vinod Parekh gave vote of thanks for the wonderful March Past with colourful dresses worn by ladies and the melodious music played. He praised Dr Vinodbhai Kapashi for another very well enjoyed programme.
5). Next Thurs – 17/08/23 , we will are having our AGM. So please come and join in the proceedings.
