We welcome our special guest – the Mayor of Harrow – Rekhaben Navin Shah and are highly pleased to note that she is the first Jain Mayor in the history of Harrow.
1). It is with a deep sense of loss and sorrow that we have to inform the sad news of passing away of our member – ARUNKANT BHAGWANLAL DOSHI – Age 79 on Tues – 14th after a short illness. He was the husband of our member – Daxaben Doshi. On behalf of Kendra, we offer our sincere condolences to his family and also pray to Lord Mahavir to rest his soul in eternal peace and that he gives courage to his family to bear the loss with fortitude.

We will observe two minutes silence in memory of the departed soul. The funeral is being held today at the Golders Green Crematorium at 2.00 pm.

2). Today, Manishaben conducted Yoga to benefit all joints/parts of the body. Many thanks to her from Kendra.
3). DONATIONS : *£51 from Jayshree and Dilip D.Doshi on the occasion of the birth of a grand son – Aarav to their son – Dipesh and Urvi Doshi on the 29th May. Our heartiest congratulations to the grand-parents and to the parents of Aarav.
* £51 from Manjuben Himatlal Shah on the occasion of the 93rd birthday of her husband – Himatlal Shah today. Our Heartfelt congratulations and pray the he enjoys many more birthdays to come. Everyone joined in singing the Happy Birthday song for him.
* A special eggless cake is sponsored by Harshadbhai Sanghrajka and his family to celebrate his wife – Urmilaben’s birthday which was on 21st May and also Harshadbhai receiving “MBE” on the occasion of H.M.Queens’ birthday. Our congratulations to Urmilaben and pray that she enjoys many more birthdays to come.
4). We are proud to inform members that our member Dr. Harshadbhai Sanjrajka has been awarded MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list for his community and inter-faith work. Kendra’s Heartiest Congratulations to him. This is certainly unique and he deserves this for all the work he has been doing for the communities at large and specially for the Jain community. Harshadbhai is grateful to all the organisations for giving him the opportunity to serve them and he has thanked all Kendra members for their good wishes.
5). We are glad that members from Kendra were accorded the once in lifetime Spiritual opportunity to have personal audience with H.E. Pope Francis a few days back. Dr. Vinodbhai Kapashi, Dhirubhai Galani(also his wife Indiraben) and Meenaben Chandaria had this wonderful opportunity.
6). Our President – Baburai Shah and Hon. Secretary – Jayantbhai Doshi were privileged to attend H.M. Queen’s Birthday Party last Sunday at the Mall. On this auspicious occasion, the Almighty up there decided to endow the typical English weather on this special day of celebration. Those in Heaven decided to convey their blessings in the form of drizzling rain and when H.M. came out to greet all invitees, the rain stopped and sun came out. Despite the inclement weather, everyone was talking and laughing, eating and enjoying the Hamper or cup of tea or ice cream and no one was grumbling or seemed to go away or showed signs of boredom. This was a memorable day for everyone and Jayantbhai was certainly one of the luckiest to have the honour of chatting with Prince Andrew and shaking hands with him when the Royal family came to greet the guests. 7). We are highly pleased to note that our member – Kishorbhai Mehta’s brother – Bharat Maganlal Mehta has been awarded CBE for services to Finance in the charity and voluntary sectors. What is unique and rare is that he was awarded OBE fifteen years ago and such double honours are indeed rare for which the Mehta family is indeed proud. Kendra’s heartiest congratulations to the Mehta family.
8). After lunch today, we will have a programme on ‘Fathers Day’ and will also have a talk from the Mayor of Harrow – Rekhaben Navin Shah. Also as usual at Tea Time, Kendra will provide Tea and Biscuits.
Many members came forward to sing poems or songs in praise of fathers, perform a solo gujarati natak or give their personal experience with their father.
9). Next Thurs – 23rd June, we will have a programme ‘Chai with Jasu’.
10). We request all members to give us their support in getting advertisements as well as articles of interest for the Souvenir Brochure to be published when we celebrate 10th Anniversary of Kendra early next year.
11). For our Day Trip to Stratford On Avon on Tues – 5th July we have got over 70 names and all who have given their names should make their payment today to Ashokbhai Mehta. REPEAT : Payment must be made by today.
12). A 19 days tour of Myanmar (Burma) from 10th Nov to 28th Nov is being arranged and full details have been emailed to members. The cost will be £3000 for members and £3050 for Non-members. If you want more details, contact Jayantbhai Doshi.
13). Please note that we will not be meeting on Thurs – 7th July. Instead we will meet on Wed – 6th July. Also we will not meet on Thurs – 21st July, but will meet on Tues – 19th July.
14). As all members are aware next Thurs – 23rd June is the EU Referendum and we request you to ensure that you do go and vote considering the future of your grand-children in this country. Remember each vote is very important – make sure you use it wisely.
15). Tues - 21st June is The International Yoga Day, which will be celebrated all over the world. There are several Yoga programmes in London and if you are interested, you can join in any of these.

17). Everyone, including guests present today are requested to sign in the Register at the main Table. Guests should obtain their passes.
18). Vinod Parekh announced about the eggless cake sponsored by Dr. Harshadbhai Sanghrajka to celebrate the two occasions as above will be given to all members when they have finished their Lunch and when they go to return the empties.
19). Immediately after the break our President and Hon Secretary escorted the Mayor and also the Deputy leader from Harrow Council to the stage where Baburai Shah gave a brief introduction of Kendra and called on the Mayor – Rekhaben Shah to give a talk.
Rekhaben, in her speech praised NVK for what she observed during her visit (she had even joined in the Yoga). She further stated that the NVK’s Waiting List of over 350 people proved how popular our organisation was. She gave her Best Wishes for all our programmes for the elderly.
After her, the Deputy leader of Harrow Council also spoke and specially requested all members to make sure that they vote in the EU Referendum next Thursday- he jokingly informed that the Govt was waiting for the over 400 votes to be cast by our members.
