ANNOUNCEMENTS ON THURSDAY 1st OCTOBER 2015

1). Today is Older People’s Day which is held annually in the UK on 1st October to coincide with the International Day of Older Persons. The International Day was created by the United Nations in 1991 to celebrate the contributions and achievements of older people to society and the economy, whilst also challenging negative attitudes and outdated stereotypes.

2). DONATIONS : * ‘Chaas’ for the month of October is sponsored by Manjuben and Hasmukhbhai Malde. Many thanks from Kendra.
* £51 from an anonymous donor, who celebrated her birthday this week. Kendra’s heartiest congratulations and pray that she enjoys many more birthdays.

3). After lunch today we will have music mehefil by Dharmpal & Indiraji and as usual at Tea Time, Kendra will serve tea and biscuits. The music was enjoyed by all. This duo never charge us anything for their show. Kendra’s heartiest thanks to them.

4). On 8th Oct we will have Bingo or Whist Drive.

5). Our trip to Manor House from Sun- 4th to 8th Oct will go ahead with 12 members(after some cancellations). We hope the group will have an enjoyable trip.

6). We have now managed to get 38 tickets for the Friendship matinee show at the Royal Albert Hall on Fri – 9th Oct. All those who have given their names, please collect the tkts from Ashokbhai Mehta. Also we have extra 10 tkts (because of cancellations) and if anyone is interested, please contact Ashokbhai.

7). Please note that as our Hindu New Year falls on Thurs – 12th Nov, hence we will meet on Wed – 11th Nov- on Diwali day, when we will have a music band with full day musical programme with garba. There will be no Yoga on that day. A few Guests will be allowed at £15.

8). As many members go on holidays soon and as the time has come for renewal of membership for 2016, we have emailed the Renewal forms to members. Kendra’s Committee has decided that the fees for the next year will be £90. Please ensure that you complete the forms and hand over the same to Punambhai Patwa with your payment. The deadline is 15th December. If you do not intend to renew your membership, please let us know. Also please ensure to fill your current contact details in the form as it is noticed that some members have changed their phone/mobile nos and have not informed us.

9) The Newsletter for October has been emailed to members and also uploaded on our Website. A few hard copies are available for those who do not have access to emails.

10). To commemorate Mahatma Gandhiji’s birthday on Fri – 2nd Oct, the Gita Foundation and the National Association of Patidar Samaj in association with various community and faith organisations has organised ‘Gandhi peace walk’. The walk supported by the Indian High Commission will be from Tavistock Square Gardens at 11.30 am to Parliament Square is a special event organised along the principles followed by Baupji to promote world peace to end terrorism. Also, Mahatma Gandhi Foundation has invited all to celebrate Bapuji’s birthday and his legacy at the Kadwa Patridar Hall on Tues – 6th Oct from 6.00 to 10.00 pm. There will be buffet dinner.

11). If you are shopping at SAINSBURY’S and would like to join in the scheme whereby NVK will get 4% on the gross amount of the shopping and if you need any help or clarification, please contact Jayantbhai Doshi or Baburai Shah. Kendra has received £12 from Sainsbury’s for members who had joined in the scheme last month.

12). Everyone, including guests, are requested to sign in the Register at the Entrance Table and Guests are requested to obtain their Pass.

13). Vinod Parekh announced that he has the usual charity tickets for £1 for the show “Comedy Couplets” at the Royal Albert Hall on Mon – 5th Oct at 8.00 pm.
