1). President – Vinod Parekh announced : (i) We are pleased that our last week's Grand Musical Programme which was enjoyed by all was very successful and many members attended. We are also pleased to see many new faces enjoying our afternoon programme now. Thank you all for your support.
(ii) As the weather is now getting hotter we have arranged a Day Trip 0n Tues - 23rd May '23 to Brighton Seaside and we have talked with Chandrakant Mehta of Brighton and he has confirmed that his Brighton Group is ready to welcome us. Chandrakant Mehta has always been a great help in in our past trips. We plan to leave at around 9.00 am from Kenton Library. Sight seeing and lunch is being taken care of by the Brighton Group. We intend to leave Brighton around 3.00 pm and will stop at Crawley for a visit to the Temple, where they have arranged Tea and Snacks. We will leave for London at around 5.30 pm. As there is shortage of Coaches due to heavy demand, we have managed to get only one large Coach of 91 passengers. We will therefore take members only and the cost for members will be £20. So from next Thurs - 29/4/23 we will take the names of members who want to join in the trip. The names will be taken with payment only and this will be non-refundable.
2). Today's warm-up Yoga was performed by Dineshbhai T Shah and the main Yoga was conducted by Manishaben. She did many Yogic poses to tone up the body joints and muscles. She pointed out the correct poses and even corrected members doing it wrongly. She also gave many health tips. Many Thanks to both from NVK.
3). Sad news – It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that we have to inform the passing away of two of our members lately :
a) MANHARLAL MOHANLAL MEHTA – age 84 on 07/04/23. He was the husband to our member Vidyagauri and sister to our member Hansaben Khira. They joined NVK since Jan 2010. He was a very friendly and humble person always smiling. He would never forget to send a message of congratulations to NVK whenever any programme or trip organised by NVK was found to be enjoyable by members.
b) RAJESHBHAI DHIRAJLAL RUPANI – age 67 on 12/04/23. He was the husband of our member Parulben. They joined NVK in January 2018 and attended our gatherings whenever they could. He was a friendly person.
On behalf of the NVK, we offer our sincere condolences to both families of late Manharbhai and late Rajeshbhai and pray to Lord Mahavir to rest their souls in eternal peace and give courage to bear the sad loss with fortitude.
We will now observe a minute's silence to pray for the deceased souls.

4). DONATIONS : (a) Today's lunch is sponsored by our member – Pratimaben Mandalia in loving memory of her husband – Harshvadan's third 'tithi'. Late Harsvadan was born in Mombasa and was an Eye Surgeon. He had dedicated a lot of his his life to charity work. He used to go to remote areas in and around the Mombasa Coast to carry out cataract operations for the poor and needy. Even in his Mombasa Surgery he had treated many local under privileged people free and prescribed eye medications without any charge. He is greatly missed by Pratimaben and all family members. We pray to Lord Krishna to rest his soul in eternal peace.
(b) £51 from Ramanlal Ratilal Mehta who is celebrating his birthday today. NVK's Best Wishes and let us all sing together the 'Happy Birthday' song. We pray that he will enjoy many more birthdays to come.
(c ) A Box of Lunch Plates by Arunaben Shah – who is the sister of our member – Dineshbhai S Shah. Many thanks from NVK.
5) After lunch today we will have “Bolywood Bingo” organised by our VP – Dr Vinodbhai and Sudhaben Kapashi and as usual at Tea Time, NVK will serve tea, coffee and the sponsored biscuits.
(Today's menu included - “Garam Siro”, Channa Bhatula, Punjabi Samosa etc. )
The Programme started with Dr Vinodbhai Kapashi giving full details of how the Bollywood Bingo was played. A list of 36 yesteryear Bollywood songs with its first lyric line was printed with 2 or 3 Bingo numbers next to it and a normal Bingo ticket was handed to members. A tune was then played, which members had to see on their list and check the numbers on the line, then cross their Bingo Ticket numbers. A prize for full house only was to be given. It was very nice to see nearly House full membership had joined to play this novel game.
When a tune was played, many members had joined in singing the song or even dancing near the Stage. The Hall was full of members enjoying the game.
Our Secretary – Purnimaben Mehta won the House Full Bingo by getting all the 15 numbers correctly - straight away by shouting 'Bingo'. A token prize was given to her. NVK's heartiest congratulations to her.
6). Next Thurs – 27/04 we will have a Programme on Spiritual Healing.
7). Photographs of our Grand Musical programme have been uploaded by Chimanbhai Sheth. However we have been informed by the Website developer – Pecan Solutions that the software is being upgraded and that is why some photos were upside down and the slideshow was not working. The Slideshow has now been rectified.
8). Binaben Shah has given us Tickets for the Grand Design Show at Excel Centre, London from 29th April to 7th May from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm. Tickets are available at the Front Desk for £1 for Charity as usual. Please make sure you are able to attend as wasted tickets means we get no more next time. Binaben has in the past given such Charity Tickets for some wonderful shows in London Theatres. NVK's many thanks to her.
