ANNOUNCEMENTS ON THURSDAY 20th AUGUST 2015
1).DONATIONS : * £101 from Gauriben and Ashwin Sheth on the occasion of wedding of their daughter – Reena to Amar Shah on 18th July. Kendra’s heartiest congratulations to the newly wedded couple and to their proud parents.
* £65 from Prafullaben Mahesh Shah (also known as ‘Amitabh Bachchaan’ on the occasion of Mahesh’s 65th birthday on 15 Aug. Kendra’s Best Wishes to him and pray that he enjoys many more birthdays to come.
* Ice Cream at Tea Time was sponsored by Chandrikaben Kakad to celebrate ‘shravan maas’. Kendra’s Best Wishes to her.
* Manjuben Pindoria sponsored and made a cover for our new Banner. Many thanks to her.
2) Manishaben gave many health tips today including when and how to drink water at various times of the day. Many thanks to her.
3) Immediately after my announcements we will celebrate India’s Independence Day by a colourful march past with music which has been prepared by Nimaben Kakad and then we have visit from three Lions Clubs Chairmen and after lunch we have a dance programme sponsored by Anilbhai of Skylink Travel and Yours. At Tea Time, the sponsored ice cream will be served.
The ladies wearing clothes of the colours of Indian flag marched round the Hall with appropriate music.
The Lions Clubs visitors – Rohitbhai, Snehlataben and Dineshbhai came to the stage and informed members that they had brought the special device for keeping one’s details of health and medicines that can be put in the wallet and Bottle. These will be distributed to those who did not get the same previously. They also congratulated Kendra, on behalf of all the Lions Clubs, for achieving the Queens Award.
Meera came and gave wonderful solo dance performances with lively music.
4) Next Thurs – 27th Aug, we will have a programme on Janmashthmi and Raksha Bandhan.
5). Last Thursday we had 340 members and guests who attended our musical programme and enjoyed the music by Nitu Shah and group. The special menu was highly appreciated by all.
We thank all the volunteers for making this programme highly successful.
6). On Tues - 18th Aug, 51 persons had joined in our day trip to South-end-on Sea. Unfortunately, we always seem to have rain on our day trips !! – It rained the whole day and had it not been for our members - Kokilaben and Bhikhubhai Solanki, our trip would have been a complete disaster. Kendra’s heartiest thanks to them for their tremendous help in making all the arrangements and giving us a breakfast of Jalebi/Ganthia at their home. They had also sponsored the lunch at a Hall they had arranged. They certainly made our trip pleasant and enjoyable. We are proud to have them as our members. They all enjoyed the trip.
7). On 6th Aug we had organised a talk by Nitin Mehta, unfortunately his father passed away on the same day and hence he could not come. However we celebrated a wonderful occasion of the Diamond Anniversary of Rasilaben and Prabhudasbhai Shah on that day. I had forgotten to mention that their grand-daughter – Danika Shah performed a special dance and their daughter – Binaben Shah, who gives the Kendra £1 charity tickets from time to time for some wonderful shows had raised £4300 for the Brain Tumour Unit at the hospital where she works. We are indeed proud of her and wish she continues with her good work.
8). We have arranged a film show – ‘HUMARI ADHURI KAHANI’ starring Emran Hashmi and Vidya Balan on Tues – 1st Sept at 11.00 am at the Cineworld, Staples Corner. Price : £2 for film only for members and for non-members £3. With lunch : £6 for members and £8 for others.
9). Do remember to join the SAINSBURY’S scheme whereby NVK will get 4% on the gross amount of the shopping. For more details or clarification contact Jayantbhai Doshi or Baburai Shah.
10) Navnat Vanik Association has organised a ‘Janamashtmi Mela’ at Hayes on Sunday 30th Aug from 12.00 noon to 8.00pm. There will be many stalls and entertainments. Also Sarita Sabherwal team from LycaDilse Radio will be there. Entrance is free.
11). Everyone, including guests, is requested to sign in the Register at the Entrance Table and Guests are requested to obtain their Pass.
12) Jayantbhai announced that we are planning a trip to Manor House starting on 4th Oct and since little time is left, all those interested should give their names to him.
