ANNOUNCEMENTS ON THURSDAY 27th AUGUST 2015

1).Thanks to Manishaben for giving some health tips and specially how to be bold and confront any major illnesses.

2).DONATIONS :      * Today’s lunch is sponsored by an anonymous member to celebrate the ‘Shravan Maas’. Many thanks to the sponsor and our Best Wishes.
        * £21 from Bhartiben Kotecha, who celebrated her 61st Birthday.  Kendra’s heartiest congratulations and pray that she enjoys many more birthdays to come.
She also sponsored the chocolates at the entrance table which were given to all on entering.  Many thanks from Kendra.
        * £25 from Damyantiben Bhogialal Mehta who celebrated her birthday. Our heartiest congratulations and pray that she enjoys many more birthdays to come.
        * Nimaben Kakad sponsored the ‘prasad’ of rotlo’ with home-made ‘makhan’ to all members.

3). After lunch today we will have a programme on Janmashthmi and Raksha Bandhan and das usual at Tea Time, Kendra will serve the sponsored tea and biscuits.
Immediately after the announcements, Nimaben Kakad, who had organised all the decorations in the Hall, sang a wonderful ‘halardu’ for ‘kannahya’. 
The programme began with the ladies of Kendra dressed with mughal attire coming on the stage and being presented with roses by their partners and then singing one of the best ‘qawwali’ todate from the film Mughal-E-Azam– ‘Teri Mehefil mein aake………’ sung by the jaddui awaz of Shamsad Begum with the wonderful acting of Madhubala.  This again was produced by Nimaben Kakad.  Vinodbhai Kapashi then gave brief details of the ‘Raksha Bandhan’ and ‘Janmashthmi’ festivals.  This was followed by programme on these festivals.  This was a very well arranged programme.  Congratulations to all those who took part in it.

4).  We have arranged a film show – ‘HUMARI ADHURI KAHANI’ starring Emran Hashmi and Vidya Balan on Tues – 1st Sept at 11.00 am at the Cineworld, Staples Corner.  Price : £2 for film only for members and non-members £3.  With lunch : £6 for members and £8 for others.

5).  We are planning a trip to Manor House starting from Sun- 4th Oct to Fri – 9th Oct.  Many of you have been to this trip before and all have immensely enjoyed the short break.  There are lot of activities to do with a wonderful spa. Since time is short we need to act fast and if we book soon, we will get extra discount.  If only few names are received, we will travel by cars. The cost will be around £300 to 325pp (two sharing a room)Exact cost will be worked out later.  If you are interested in joining, please give your names with cheque of £200 pp to Pragnaben Mandalia. 6).  There is a Friendship matinee at the Royal Albert Hall on Fri – 9th Oct at 3 pm for the show-  50 years of James Bond movies music by Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.  Price is &6pp payable in advance for members and non- members. 7).  Please do remember to join the SAINSBURY’S scheme whereby NVK will get 4% on the gross amount of the shopping.  For more details or clarification contact Jayantbhai Doshi or Baburai Shah.

8).  We have booked a Yoga Retreat from 11th to 16th July 2016.  Keep these dates in your diary.  More details will be given later.

9).  A few weeks ago Pragnaben Mandalia and few volunteers from Kendra had organised a ‘Big Collection’ for Diabetes UK at the Brent Cross.  They had raised a fantastic amount of £838.87 and the Regional Fundraiser for the Diabetes UK has written to state that they were absolutely delighted and thanked Pragnaben for all the hard work and time spent for the collection.  This fundraising helped the National total of over £175,000 which is absolutely incredible when one considers this is just two days of collecting coppers and silver. All the volunteers have been congratulated for achieving something amazing.  Our heartiest congratulations to Pragnaben.

10).  Lions Club of Hemel Hempstead is collecting your old spectacles and hearing aid for refurbishment and recycling to third world countries through Lions Clubs.  Our member – Chimanbhai Sheth is a member of that Lions club and will collect these if you have any lying at your home.

11).  From 15th August, UK Passport holders going to India for one month’s visa can now get e-Tourist visas online.  They can apply and pay for visa at : indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa – provided they enter at one of the airports that is mentioned (New Delhi, Mumbai are included).  Remember that the ETAs are valid only for one month’s single entry only and can be obtained just 3 days before your travel.  The visa fee is £40 +Service Fee £29.95 +Vat £5.99 = Total £75.94

12).  There is a Free Mushaira (Poetry) programme by the legendary Chinubhai Modi at the Jaspar Centre, 2A Rosslyn Crescent, Harrow – HA1 2SU on Thursday -3rd Sept from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm.
