NAVJIVAN VADIL KENDRA- ANNOUNCEMENTS ON THURS-7TH JANUARY 2016

Kendra’s President – Baburai Shah welcomed all those present today and wished them and their family members a Happy New Year.

1). We welcome members who have attended today, however some of our members are unable to attend because of ill health or other problems. We pray for their speedy recovery so that they can come and enjoy our future programmes. Today is the first gathering of Kendra in 2016 and we wish everyone a very Happy, Healthy and Peaceful New Year.

Kendra also specially welcomes all the new members who have joined from this year and requests all who are present today to stand up so that members know them. We also request the existing members to ensure and guide the new members so that they can enjoy all our activities and also contribute their talents for the betterment of the elderly. Our large membership of over 400 and a Waiting List of 360 names of people waiting eagerly to join Kendra is a proof of our popularity. For the information of members this year we have taken all those people who were on our Waiting list and who had given their names before 30th August 2012. We will not take any more members now.

Kendra’s Ninth Anniversary was on 5th Jan and normally we celebrate the Anniversary and New Year in the first programme with a full day of music and sit down special luncheon. This year we felt that as many members are on holidays at this time of the year and also we want to celebrate the 10th Anniversary in 2017 in a grand celebration next year, the Committee decided to have a normal gathering only. The committee is also considering various proposals for this grand event next year.

Today, Ushaben Mehta gave an important health tip when using detergents and sprayers to clean our bathrooms and when the same comes unknowingly in contact with our body and brings problems and how potatoes can cure skin problems. Many thanks to her.

Also, Manishaben gave good health tips on the home remedies for Arthritis. Many thanks to her. She will continue giving health tips in future and these will be emailed to members, as well as put on our Website.l

2). DONATIONS : * ‘Chaas’ for the month of January is sponsored by Dhanlaxmiben Mehta and Bhadraben J Mehta. Thanks to both of them from Kendra.
* £21 from the new member – Naliniben Pramod Mehta on joining Kendra this year. Many thanks to her.
* £25 from Bhagwandas Bakhai on the occasion of his wife – Nainaben’s birthday which was celebrated on 1st January. Our heartiest congratulations and pray that she enjoys many more to come.

3). After lunch, we will have a Gujarati Natak performed by our own members. This play was entirely written, produced and directed by Vinodbhai Kapashi and was prepared in just five days during the holiday period. At Tea Time, Kendra will provide Tea and Biscuits.

The natak was a three part “Alzheimer’s ‘andha ghuti’”. It portrayed real life problems when someone in the family suffers from Alzheimer. This was very well acted and presented by all the members who took part. Once again a very well presented play. Congratulations to all for their splendid performance.

4). Next Thurs – 14th Jan, we will have a special programme after lunch.

5). The new members should ensure that they complete the membership forms in every detail, giving their full names, contact numbers etc and also their emergency contacts. If you want to do Yoga on the floor, you must use a proper Yoga mat and try not to wear socks for safety reasons. Kindly also maintain complete silence during Yoga.

6). We have arranged a Yoga Retreat from Mon -11th to Sat -16th July at the Pastoral Centre, Fareham, Hampshire (www.parkplacecentre.org.uk ). Full programme will be given later, but will include Yoga, Reiki, pilates and talks on health issues, on homely medical treatments etc. The venue is situated on a lovely location with forest.
