1. No guests will be allowed next Thursday 22 August. Carers will be allowed.

2. Donations:

  • £ 201 from our members Shantibhai and Vanitaben Shah on the occasion of a double celebration in their family. First, their own 55th wedding anniversary,  which is on 23rd of August. To celebrate this milestone their family is taking them on holiday to Gibraltar.

NVK wishes them a wonderful family holiday and anniversary celebrations. No, that’s not the end of it because the Shah family celebrations will continue into September as there is more good news to share.

The second is when, in September, their son Situl and Daughter-in-law Nupur will have two new additions to their own and the extended Shah family. The good news is Situl and Napur have succeeded in adopting 2 children – Brother and Sister team – which will complete their own family.

NVK congratulates the shah family on the new addition to their family.

NVK wishes Situl and Nupur a wonderful and rewarding adventure of raising their children. And to the grandparents Shantibhai and Vanitaben I say welcome to the world of grandparenting in the 21st century.

4. Afternoon Programme:

We had decided to celebrate Independence day and Janmashtami on the same day i.e. 15th of August.   The other days are booked with various activities and we were compelled to combine the two events in one day. However, our members' enthusiasm and hard work paid off and everyone enjoyed the day.

After the yoga, we had a few announcements and then Krishna Bhagvan's birth procession was held. Members joined with devotion and enthusism. The atmosphere was filled with the sounds of Nand gher Anand Bhayo....Jai Kanhaiyalal ki. Aarti and Thal were sung. Members had brought many items as offerings (Prasad). This was given out during lunch time. After the lunch Vinodbhai Kapashi gave some background of the celebrations. The importance of Bhgvan Krishna was explained and few verses from the Geeta were recited. Priya Mandalia, Shrish Shah, Sudha Kapashi, Bharati Malkan sang beautiful Bhajans.

We then celebrated India's Independence day. A beautiful and large cake, depicting India's Tiranga flag was specially made  and brought by Krishna Mehta. This was ceremoniously cut and distributed to our members with tea and biscuits.   Many ladies had come in beautiful sarees showing India's tri-colors.  Shri Dinesh Doshi, Mala Mithani, Meena Shah, Nayna Shah sang patriotic songs.

Thank you to Maltiben Chandrikaben for bringing Janmashtaami items and all those who helped and brough Prasad from home

We could not accommodate more songs due to lack of time. Our apologies.
