ANNOUNCEMENT 30 JANUARY 2025

Dear members,

Jai Jinendra and Jai Shree Krishna,

The committee of Navjivan Vadil Kendra would like to emphasis the following:

1. NVK is a charity organisation to support the elderly within our community. 

Charities are required to be independent and cannot have political purposes, and this is important for public trust in charities. As such, charities must never stray into party politics – they must never promote, or be seen to promote, a political view or create controversy.

NVK is not a political organisation and does not support any political parties or views.

As such when members speak at any of our gatherings on Thursdays, please be aware not to create any controversy as a result of what you say.

2. Members are reminded that the purpose of our organisation is to serve the needs of elderly, lonely and retired people. We all attend on Thursday to meet our friends, meet like minded people, participate in Yoga and generally have a break from our daily routine. In particular, our volunteers who work very hard every Thursday from early morning to late afternoon so that the rest of the members can have an enjoyable Thursday. They ensure that the day runs smoothly. There should be no need for any member to abuse any volunteer or any members. Abuse to any volunteer or any member will not be tolerated and is not acceptable under any circumstances.

3. Members reminded to collect their 2025 membership receipts.

4. Members were reminded to scan their membership cards when they come in in the morning. 

5. Members that come after 12.30pm were also reminded to ensure that their cards are scanned by a committee member.

6. Donations:

  • £51 from Jyotiben Patwa on the occasion of the 1st birthday od her gradson, Dhani, which was on Saturday 25 January.

Many thanks to Jyotiben Patwa on behalf of NVK.

  • It was announced that donations for Biscuits, Chaas and any general donations are welcome. Members were urged to consider and come forward.  Any such donations will be greatly appreciated by NVK.
  • New membership cards will take some time as we are waiting for the artwork from our sponsors - Oyster Properties- £500.
  • Items handed in as lost properties were exhibited and claimed. Those not claimed will be given to charity.

7. Afternoon Programme:

The afternoon programme started with Dr. Vinodbhai Kapashi welcoming all on this special occasion of the celebration of India's Republic Day with colourful saris and some dressed in India's 'Triranga' flag colours. He also gave a brief introduction with the background music of 'Vande Matram'
 
Then a procession from the main gate started with members joining and waving 'Triranga' flags with the music of India's National Anthem. After parading through the hall, they came to the stage and all sang together the National Anthem.  Members joined in applauding and clapping.
 
After the procession members came and sang patriotic songs.
Then we also celebrated India's Rastrapita Mahatma Gandhi, who was assassinated on 30th January 1948, by singing songs and Bhajans or pay homage to our Gandhi Bapu.  
The Programme was enjoyed by all.
