1. Manisha brought about some changes in yoga class She introduced some Zumba style excercises with Indian music. She will do this once a month. She finished yoga by 12.30 pm.
2. It was important to have our first meeting with full attendance soon after the AGM on 22 August. However, this was delayed due to holiday commitments of some committee members. Therefore, the new committee met on Monday 7 October. The following information was provided to the members.
- Pradipbhai Patel our new committee member has secured a grant for NVK. The grant is for £4950 from a company called Alstom. The grant is towards a PA System, Computers and hearing loop. A huge thank you to Pradipbhai on behalf to NVK.
- The committee had agreed to set the membership fee of £200 for 2025. This was a majority decision agreed with a caveat that if too many members drop out due to increase in fees then the committee will reconsider it decision not to take in new members for 2025
- Comments box- following suggestions from members on giving them a voice, the committee discussed at their meeting and has agreed to have a comments box. The box will be displayed 1st Thursday of every month. This will begin on Thursday 7 November. This will help members submit their concerns anonymously. The committee will consider comments made and issues raised and report back to the membership. This will help transparency, gain trust and confidence. It will also give members a voice.
- New teams with team leads have been formed as follows: it was agreed that President, Secretary and the Treasurer will be part of each team. Another requirement will be to do a projected budget/costings of any event ahead of planning any event. • Joint Secretary Dr Vora to continue as Joint Secretary;
• Kishorbhai Doshi to continue as Assistant Treasurer;
• Ellaben Shah to continue as front desk team lead. To be assisted by Purnima Mehta and Kusumben Punater as and when required.
• Hasubhai Mandalia will be responsible for Scanning of membership cards at registration desk.
• Food service and ordering of Food Team- Hasmukhbhai Parekh to lead. He will be assisted by Karsanbhai Bhudia and Shirishbhai Mithani. Jayeshbhai Shah will lead on the sale of food and manage the laying of the round tables for lunchtime.
• Cultural team – Vinodbhai Kapashi to lead. He will be assisted by Kusumben Punater and Prafulbhai Shah. The team will be responsible for the weekly afternoon programme.
• Travel and Excursion team – Shirishbhai Mithani to lead. He will be assisted by Pradip Patel and Hasubhai Mandalia. This will include one day trips, more than one day trips, overseas trips.
• Webmaster and photography – Chimanbhain Sheth and Karsanbhai Bhudhia. They will nominate someone in their absence when both on holiday.
• Pradip Patel agreed to assist with any technical issues that needs assistance.
• Vinodbhai Kapashi to lead on the revisions to the NVK constitution team. He will be assisted by Prafulbhai Shah and Pradipbhai Patel.
3. As mentioned in last weeks announcement we have now decided to have our Diwali Dhamaka at Sattavis Pattidar Hall instead of Blue Room. Get your tickets as only one week left to buy them. Please also collect your form for table sitting from Ellaben at the front desk and return with the full 10 names as soon as possible. Table numbers will be picked up by table leaders on Thursday 17 October. Dress code : Ladies in Saris Gents: Smart dressed. Gates will open at 10.30 am.
4. Donation:
- A packet of biscuits donated by Shushilalben J Shah
- £ 11 from Naresh Doshi in the memory of his wife Pratibha Doshi who passed away a year ago. May her soul rest in peace Om Shanti.
- £ 88 from Vidulaben R Shah on the occasion of her birthday which was on 22 September. Vidulaben wished NVK progresses to greater heights.
