Announcements for Thursday 1 October - Part 2 - AGM 2026

We are pleased to share a report on Part 2 of our 2026 AGM, which included the election of the new NVK Committee.

Registration of members attending the AGM began at 10:15 am. Each registered member was given a gold wristband.

The meeting commenced at 11:15 am with prayers led by Vinodbhai Kapashi.

President Vinodbhai Parekh welcomed the Independent Returning Officer, Mr Bhupendrabhai Shah, and his team of seven members. At 11:20 am, the Returning Officer formally dissolved the existing committee and commenced the election proceedings for the new Committee.

No ballot papers were issued after 11:45 am.

Election Results

Members voted for the various posts, and the following office bearers were elected:

  • President: Purnima Mehta — the first female President in NVK’s history
  • Vice President: Vinod Parekh
  • Secretary: Vinod Kapashi

 As no nominations had been received for the post of the Secretary, by the deadline, the Returning Officer opened the nomination to the floor. Vinod Kapashi was proposed by Chiman Sheth and seconded by Vinod Parekh from the floor, following which he was declared Secretary of NVK.

  • Treasurer: Pradip Patel
  • Assistant Treasurer: Kishor Doshi

The outgoing President, Vinodbhai Parekh, thanked Returning Officer Bhupendrabhai Shah and his team for conducting the election in an efficient and smooth manner. The election proceedings were successfully completed before lunch.
 

Following lunch, members enjoyed a lively session of Garba, after which everyone happily dispersed following tea, coffee and biscuits.

We extend our warm congratulations to Purnima Mehta, the newly elected President, and to all the newly elected office bearers and committee members. We wish the new Committee every success in serving NVK and its members.
