Announcements for Thursday 15 January 2026

Sunday, 18 January 2026

Dear members

Jai Jinendra and Jai Shree Krishna

1. The president welcomed 3 new members to the Kendra. They came forward as they were introduced to the members.

2. The President informed the members that during food serving members should not argue/accuse volunteers of serving less food. They serve on instructions given to them and it should not become personal. The president urged members to contact or speak to the Kitchen Team lead - Hasubhai Parekh in the first instance. If he is not around then they should speak to the President or the Secretary.

3. Members are reminded to please put their coats on coat hanger rather then occupying a chair just to put their coat, while doing Yoga,

4. Car Park - Again, members were reminded to park their cars in marked car parking spaces and not in unmarked spaces. This causes a lot of inconvenience to other users to the venue.

5. Lately, the afternoon programme starts late by 15 minutes. So we will end the afternoon programme around 3.15 or 3.30pm

6. SPONSORSHIP-we welcome sponsors for Chaas- £60 per month. Please give your name to Ella Shah at the front desk.

Many thanks to Laxmiben on behalf of the Kendra.

8. Afternoon programme-

We celebrated Uttarayan/ Makar Sankranti on 15th of January 2026 in the afternoon session.  First Vinodbhai Kapashi explained the religious and cultural significance of this festival. He also explained how the Sankranti(transition of the sun occurs in relation to Capricorn.

People found this interesting. After this explanation, members were asked to come forward and sing songs of Uttarayan. As traditionally it has become a kite-flying festival, few of our members sang kite songs.

The programme concluded at about 3 pm.
