Announcements for Thursday 24 September - Part 1 - AGM 2026

Wednesday, 7 October 2026

Dear members

Jai Jinendra and Jai Shree Krishna

We  had our Part 1 of our 2026 AGM.

Summary of main points covered at the AGM. Details will be covered in the minutes of the AGM.

Our AGM started with prayers followed with a minute silence for departed souls in 2025.

Minutes of our last AGM held on Thursday 9th October 2025 were proposed by Chiman Sheth and seconded by Vinod Kapashi.

President's report, Secretary's report were presented to the members together with Treasurer's Report.

Following the AGM discussion, please find below a summary of the constitutional proposals and the decisions reached.

1. Election of Trustees and Office Bearers – APPROVED

Members approved the proposal that all trustees, including office bearers, will be elected directly by the membership.

There will be a maximum of 15 trustees. Members will nominate candidates and vote directly for each position. The new process will be introduced for the forthcoming election, subject to completion of the required constitutional formalities.

2. Term Limits for Office Bearers – REFERRED TO THE COMMITTEE

The proposal was that office bearers should serve a maximum of two terms (four years).

Members discussed how this arrangement should operate, including whether an individual should be allowed to return to the same position after a period away.

No final decision was reached. The matter has therefore been referred back to the Committee for further discussion and clarification.

3. Spouses and Siblings Serving on the Committee – APPROVED

The proposal was that spouses or siblings should not serve on the Committee at the same time.

Following discussion, the proposal was put to a vote. It received majority support and was therefore approved.

4. Expectations of Committee Members

The meeting also discussed the expectations of Committee members, including:

● Regular attendance and commitment

● Responsibility for assigned duties

● Clear communication

● Respectful teamwork

● Compliance with NVK policies and procedures

● Basic computer and digital skills

Members who do not currently have all the required digital skills should not be excluded, provided they are willing to learn.

The Committee will adopt all above proposals in the constitution review project.

We will conduct Part 2 of our 2026 AGM on Thursday 1 October, when we will be conducting elections for the post of President and Vice President.

Hope to see you all on Thursday 1 October.

Purnima Mehta
