NAVJIVAN VADIL KENDRA – ANNOUNCEMENTS & PROGRAMME ON THURS - 30/11/23
1). President - Vinod Parekh announced : * Please note that Manishaben Wala will be going to India from 11/12/23 for the wedding of her daughter- Aditi, so next Thursday - 7th Dec will be her last day with us until her return in February '24. On behalf of all members of NVK we Offer our Best Wishes and wish that all functions in Ahmedabad are wonderful and enjoyable.
* Winter's cold weather has started and members are coming with warm clothing. Please ensure that your overcoats etc are hanged on the Clothes Hanger in the corner. Do not put these on your chairs.
* We ae trying to keep some volunteers to enable you to refill 'Chaas' at lunchtime, so that there is no wastage of cups. You will fill your cup of 'chaas' with your lunch plate and if you need to refill, our volunteers will try and refill the same. We hope this new system works to every ones satisfaction.
2). Today's Warm up Yoga was conducted by Dhirubhai Galani and the main Yoga by Manishaben. She conducted many Yogic poses to tone up the lower back, abdomen, thighs, knees and legs muscles and joints stressing how to do these correctly and also gave benefits of all poses. She also repeated how to do the "Surya Namaskar -सूर्यनमस्कार" correctly. Dhirubhai conducted many Yogic poses synchronised with other poses. The workout at a fast rate warmed up everyone in this cold weather. Many thanks to both from NVK.
3). After lunch today we have arranged a lecture by Dr. Vinodbhai Kapashi on the science of Mantra, Yantra and Tantra. This will be a very knowledgeable and interesting topic.
As usual at Tea Time, NVK will provide Tea/Coffee and the sponsored Biscuits.
(Today's lunch menu included : Rajasthani dish of Bata- bhakri/sev/tomato curry, Mohanthal, khaman dhokra, rice with veg, kadhi etc).
4). Chimanbhai Sheth will take photos today of members, if anyone has not done so. From now onwards if you have not taken out your photos at NVK, please take out a passport size photo and send to us by email (NOT to use whatsApp).
5). With deep sadness we got news of the passing away of our member - Hansaben Mistry last evening. Full details will follow later. In the meantime we offer our condolences to the family and pray to Lord Krishna to rest the deceased's soul in eternal peace.
6). Dr Vinodbhai Kapashi announced details of the afternoon programme. He said we are going to have the usual Christmas Carols after 2 weeks. the group arranged by Ellaben Shah also sings Hindi carols.
The afternoon programme started at 2.20 pm with the Convenor - Dr. Vinodbhai Kapashi giving a brief introduction. He then explained in detail how these were derived from the Sanskrit words. These three represent the three basic approaches available to human beings to harness the power of God and use it to perform their duties in their obligatory duties. These are employed in 'Karma marg'- path of action, 'janana marg' - the path of knowledge and 'sanyasa marg' - path of renunciation. These can be used for constructive purposes to achieve peace and prosperity or liberation or for destructive ends to create chaos, cast evil spells or inflict pain and suffering upon others.
He said all these had scientific meaning and have a lot of power if done in correct ways. He gave an example of mantra - like 'Om Hrim' ( pronounced "hreem") which is a sacred mantra - specific mantra for the heart on all levels - whether the spiritual heart, the heart chakra, the emotional heart or the heart as a physical organ. It can energise the heart and provide warmth. He also gave detailed explanations of yantra and tantra.
Everyone enjoyed the in depth details and listened to the interesting origins etc.
